The skin on the nipples is very sensitive and the early days of breastfeeding can sometimes mean sore, chapped or cracked nipples. Our safe, soothing organic breastfeeding balm may help prevent sensitive, sore nipples from interfering with that special snuggling time.

NOTE: Chagrin Valley do not use synthetic stabilizers or waxes, so thedelicate natural products packaged in glass jars and metal tins are sensitiveto temperature changes. During warmweather, products may soften or even melt as they sit in warm mail trucks,mailboxes, or on front porches. Thequality and healing properties of the products are not affected by melting.

On sunny or warm days, BEFORE openingthe jars or tins, please place the items in your refrigerator for a few hoursto allow them to harden, just in case they have melted in transit. What is most important is that neither thehealing properties of the product nor the usability will be affected by the melting.

USAGE

Many women ask if they need to do something to prepare their nipples for breastfeeding. As you go through pregnancy, natural hormonal changes are already preparing your nipples for feeding. You may notice that the areola becomes darker and the nipple texture changes. Although you need no preparation, some women find it helpful to gently massage a light layer of salve over the nipple and areola a few weeks before their due date.

Once breastfeeding begins:

Continue to use the Nipple Salve while breastfeeding
Apply as needed and after each feeding
Be sure the nipples are dry before application
All ingredients are safe for ingestion, so no need to wash off before nursing
